Description

Update 4/7/2026: This event is now FULL. Thank you for your interest!

A work party will be held at Siletz Bay to rehabilitate the airfield's pilot campground April 17-18, with back up dates of April 24-25. The work party will be delayed if heavy rains are in the forecast. The project is funded by an RAF grant.

Please bring drinking water, work gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, work clothes, rain gear, and camping equipment if you plan to camp.

The following tools would be helpful, but we don’t need everyone to bring them. Please RSVP to Sarah with a list of tools you’re interested in bringing, and she’ll make sure we don’t have 15+ duplicates!

Shovel
Rake
Hoe
Pick
Garden clippers
Pruning saw/clippers
Hedge trimmer
Wheel barrow
Cordless drill and various drill bits
Cordless skill saw
Hammer
Chain saw
Ax for firewood

Camping overnight at the airport campsites is an option before, during, and after the event. Anyone with a small camper van can park on the transient ramp next to the airport campsites.  There is NO running water, so please bring lots of drinking water if you plan on camping.  Additional nearby lodging can be found in the towns of Gleneden Beach, and Lincoln City, OR.

Please plan to bring your own lunches. Friday night we’ll provide burgers, buns, and condiments. Volunteer participants are invited to contribute a salad, side dish, or dessert to share, and please bring your own beverage. Saturday morning we will provide fruit and breakfast burritos (egg and bacon, and egg and bean). Bring your own coffee, tea, etc.

There is a nice restaurant across the street that serves lunches and dinners, called the Side Door Cafe, and other restaurants and grocery stores are available in the nearby town of Gleneden Beach.

This location is on an active public airport, so any children or pets will need to be closely attended and restrained from the taxiway, runway, and tie down areas (anywhere there may be spinning propellers). If flying in, please note that the coast can sometimes be cloudy and/or foggy.

An RSVP is required for this event to Sarah Brown: sbrown@theraf.org. This event is now full and no longer taking RSVPs. Thank you!
